About the Owner

Kate Wolff

Leaving your pet and essentially your entire home in the hands of someone else can be a nerve-wracking experience and my goal is to make you feel like I am family and not a stranger. That being said, I’d love to share my story and how I came to start this business.

kate_gusMy story is not all that uncommon these days… I got my 4 year degree in psychology and immediately went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the State University of New York at Buffalo. I was going to save the world! After a series of underpaying and underappreciated jobs while also caring for my homebound mother in New York, I was finally given a break! My sister, who was living in Charlotte already with her husband, decided to build a home with an in-law suite for our mother and move her down south. This was my chance to go wherever I wanted and to start my new adult life! I had my heart set on Portland, Oregon. I began searching for jobs and apartments. As my moving date approached, suddenly a light bulb lit up in my head and I realized I could not and did not want to be too far from my family. In a whirlwind decision and a matter of weeks I found myself sitting in an empty townhouse in Charlotte, NC with my dog and not much else. My dog (Gus) and I went everywhere together!

He helped me explore the area and we met so many new friends at places like Dog Bar and basically any restaurant patio. We quickly learned that Charlotte is a city of dogs. I have traveled all over the US and Canada, in addition to 11 countries in Europe, and I have never seen such a dog-friendly city. Charlotte quickly felt like home because you could walk down the street and make new friends just by leaning over to pet a friendly dog. After a summer of failed job hunting, my life took a 180 degree turn and I got a part-time job through a friend of a friend as a pet sitter. I fell in love with my job. I could not believe that I was getting paid to play with furry friends all day long, not to mention the exercise and sunshine.

It only took me 5 months to realize that I had found my dream career and in April of 2014 I decided to start my own company. I could not be happier and every day I wake up feeling excited to go work and to see all of my “friends.” Life can lead you in any direction you choose. I chose to follow my passions and I feel like the luckiest woman alive. I credit my mother and sister for giving me my strength and encouragement, my previous employer Beth for teaching me about this business and giving me the job that would forever change my life, and my wonderful partner Tami for supporting me and being so understanding about my crazy schedule. Of course, where would I be without my loyal clients (Club Members) and the silly, furry, fuzzy, funny, precious, cuddly dogs (and cats)? THANK YOU!!!

LOVE,

KATE
